About Me

I am a new Colorado Technical University (CTU) student and I look forward to sharing what I learn and my insights with you!  I am originally from Kansas City Missouri (Go Chiefs!), but I am slowly transforming into a Texan over time! I like the diversity that the Dallas-Fort area offers in terms of people and activities.  Depending on my mood, I can dress western and visit the Stockyards in Fort Worth, catch a Texas Rangers or Cowboys game in Arlington, or visit one of the many museums and fine dining establishments in Dallas!

CS875, Futuring and Innovation

CS875 Futuring and Innovation is one of my first CTU courses.  I expected only technical Computer Science courses in the program, so this class, which is both creative and technical, is a stretch for me!  I look forward to developing skills that will help me to “think outside the box” to identify innovative ideas for the future!

Blog Development

I am very private and don’t read blogs, so I don’t have a clue what to blog about!  As a result, I decided to research blogs to learn about them!  Harris (2021) describes blogs as “Time capsules of data”.     In Blogging for Dummies (Bair, 2019), Chapter 9 provides several keys to creating “great content” for blogs:

  • Identify your audience.
  • Write well and frequently.
  • Be yourself.

Robinson (2023) provided “12 Blog Layout examples and best practices.  Excerpts from the list include:

  • Use Fonts You Can Read
  • Organize Your Blog Layout for Easier Access
  • Design Your Blog Posts to Be Easily Scannable
  • Utilize High-Quality Images (or Graphics)
  • Encourage Engagement
  • Make Your Blog Layout Relate to Your Audience

I think of this blog as my CTU Doctorate program “diary."  Since the blogs are associated with assignments, I expect to post some information extracted from those assignments.  And if I find something that may benefit the class, I’ll post it!  Please do the same!

There is a saying among dancers that “dancing is therapy."  I adapted this phrase from my hobby and applied it to my education journey. My blog is learningistherapy.blogspot.com.   I look forward to partnering with you throughout the learning journey!
